Lots of gold and red decorate this hallway. The splashes of azure in the inset paintings really adds a sparkle to the scene.
But, compared to the auditorium in the Budapest opera house, this place is almost pedestrian. The style of this place is more on the order of the Met. Don't get me wrong, it is amazing and beautiful. However, it is just not quite in the same league as the Budapest opera.
But boy does this place have a deep stage area. That is huge. and just fo good measure, this place is totally transformed once a year for a very different purpose. Ever year, all the seats are removed and a false floor is inserted at the height of the stage so that it all becomes one large room. this place is converted into an opulent ballroom. This gala is the place to be if you are part of Vienna elite.
There are a variety of parlors and spaces around the main auditorium that themselves pretty special.
The decorations are pretty and interesting, but clearly modern. Again, quite a different sort of look from the Budapest opera.
