The Tour Continues

The insides of this gigantic building are known for the seemingly endless hallways.

Many are not just for allowing people to get from here to there. There are plush benches to be found in many places for people to sit and converse. This is why such places are called the halls of power.

But not all halls of power are so opulent. This place is carefully decorated everywhere. With miles of halls and stairways, it is staggering to consider this design and construction effort nevermind the army of people to required to maintain it.

This really is a secular cathedral of government. It comes complete with stained glass, archwork, intricate painted ceilings, and gilt column capitals.

And chandeliers to illuminate the beautiful spaces are elegantly simple and complement the more complex wall designs.

It is sad to imagine that there are, no doubt, aides and MP's that work here that are so used to this extravagance that they really don't notice it any longer. If that is true, do such people also no longer notice the difference between their much more modest homes and this place?
