End of the Tour

All parliament building have more than just a meeting room in them. there must office spaces for the MP's and the staff. It takes a lot of people to run a country. Judging from the size of this assembly room, it takes a really huge number of people (or at least that planned for the possibility) to do it here.

Everything here is on a grand and unparalleled scale.

Just to point to one detail that you just don't find on other building...here, outside the main assembly room is this odd brass device along one of the window sills (that's a stained glass window, you know). Can't guess what it is? It is place to park your cigar. These folks (all assumed to be men, naturally) have a place to park their cigars outside the meeting hall.

Everything here is amazing and wonderful. You really should visit when you are in town.

Back outside after the tour, you can see the central dome and the gothic spires reaching for the sky.

The combination of the inside and outside views make it clear why this building and St. Stephen's Basilica are set at the same height and all other building are forbidden to be as tall or taller. These two building form the pivots of the foundation, both secular and religious, for the country and nothing should be more important. And so they are not.

These are the balance points for the hungarian society.
