Here is a bad photo of the ceiling of the large domed room. I managed to sneak in one shot before I was forced to quit trying or be caught. Just in case you have not by now figured out that this is a cathedral to self-rule, here's your proof.
There are even sections of the ceilings in places that are painted just as in a large church.
There are statues along some of the columns, such as one migh find in a church.
this circular bench is roped off to prevent us mere mortals from sitting down, but I'm sure that when the parliament is session, it is available for the MP's to sit to ponded the intricate ceilings while they discuss important state matters.
This next photo is a strange angle but I wanted you to see the complicated work on the ceiling. It is just amazing. This is the ceiling, finally, of the assembly room where the voting and speeches all occur.
The outer rim of this large meeting hall is ringed by a series of arches and columns. We'll finish this tour up tomorrow and see more of this magnificent place.
