Stopping in for a Bathe

The Szechenyi Baths is a great place to visit when you are in Budapest. It is clean and very well run. I buy my tickets online ahead of time and getting in is easy. It is 29 Euros to get in and for one Euro more you can to rent a changing room.

It was built in 1913 and added to later to reach its current size. Wikipedia tells me that the heated water is supplied by two thermal springs located here.

It is delightful place to relax. Even when the temperature sign (just visible below) says the outside temperature is warmer than the water, the water still feels warm and refreshing. You really must make a stop here.

The M1 subway line stops at the bath making getting there a breeze. On stop away is Hero's square with its colonnade of Hungarian Heros. If you can remember the posting about St. Stephen's Basilica, there is a similar colonnade at the altar. Lots of patriotism to be found here.

You can also see the large hot air balloon in the medium distance. We checked on this and they typically take 30 people up at once. We decided that we did not want to risk falling from the sky with 29 other people so we gave this a pass.
