Parliament Tour Part 3

Now you begin to understand why I was confused that I hadn't already posted this tour back in 2019 when it happened. This place is way beyond a simple building providing a place for parliament to meet. This really is a secular church.

The gilding and ever present ornamentation make this a place to savor, not simply go to a 9 to 5 job in as a parliamentary aide or MP.

Even the doors in this place are pretty darned amazing

While I keep showing you these intricately decorated hallways and ceilings, there is a part I cannot show you. There is a central room, sort of the holy of holies where the crow of St. Stephan is kept. This place even comes with its own relic. Photos were not allowed in there. It was a huge room with a several story ceiling (I think it is under the central come seen from the outside) and inside is a decorated case with the crown inside.

Even if you take into account that this is a parliament building in another culture where the norms are different, that this is a place designed to be amazing and really large, that this is intended to be a celebration of all things Hungarian, even with all that... this is way over the top. It is simply awe inspiring at every turn.

I mean, who would think that in designing the stairs below that connect part  A of the building to part B, that they needed to be this spacious and beautiful. Apparently, the Hungarians did. And it all works. Wow.
