St. Stephen's Basilica Continued

Without the bustling crowd visiting the church of our previous visit, I am able to photograph some things I either could not get a clear shot of or found so difficult to shoot, I gave up on. This time all was easy.

As you can see below, just as opening the crowd is small and the space is vast. Wikipedia informs me that before 1920 it was the 6th largest church building in Hungary. Today it is the 3rd largest. What does this tell us about life in Hungary in the last 100 years?

The many opportunities to find symmetries in a church such as this one really appeal to me.

Around every corner is another chance to see the same spaces in a new way.

This is a view of the rear of the church with the large pipe organ in the loft over the entrance. We have again visit here for one of the concerts so we can hear this organ. It is a most impressing instrument. Naturally, one of the pieces performed is Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D-minor. While there are place where this intricate piece struggles against the buildings acoustics, it is an awesome sound and well worth the visit.
