With a view of the right bell tower (again, as viewed looking toward the front of basilica from the street) and the Budapest Eye in the background, we leave the breezy walkway and head back inside the basilica to visit the treasury.
This houses a collection of interesting religious accoutrements once used here by several important church leaders.
In addition to the very fancy clothing on display, there were also these monstrances. For those of you who were not raised Catholic, a monstrance is according to Merriam-Webster: a vessel in which the consecrated Host is exposed for the adoration of the faithful. This was news to me. Clearly, the Host requires lots of adoration.
It seems likely that the people who made these items were, in their minds, doing a service for God and really poured their heart and soul into the job.
