I read the other day that the last working telephone booth in New York City has been removed. I wonder if there are any bum ball machines to still be found there?
As you can see, even on a sunny (and windy) day there are plenty of clouds overhead. This is, in fact, part of what makes the PNW an interesting place to live. The sky is almost always a central player in the landscape.
This model milk wagon reminds us of not only a time with horse drawn wagons delivered milk to people's front steps (as a diesel truck did in my youth), but also of a time when tuberculosis was still a threat.
In several places along First Street there are benches to sit on and rest. These have fancy end ironworks and a slatted seat. To be sure that they remain for tomorrow's visitors, they are attached to the fence with a cable. It is shame that it must be anchored, isn't it?
