Cerkev Marijinega oznanjenja

There are a couple churches in Ljubljana that we visited, the being Cerkev Marijinega Oznanjenja, or the Franciscan Church of the Assumption.

As you can see, this is  Baroque style church and it is quite beautiful. We arrived just at the end of mass and waited will it finished. Thus, there are still some people siting the pews while they linger to meditate.

As expected, the furnishing are quite ornate. I hoped to get a photo with the chandeliers illuminated but the priest turned them off at the end of the service.

The pulpit is quite frilly and for someone reason has someone dressed like the pope sitting crossed legged on the top. Kind of reminds me of a elf sitting on a Christmas mantle.

Some of the chapels on the sides were very intense. This seems to have all the possible iconography...paintings, statues, painted statues in the front...and a printed page of a priest that comes out a be jaundiced under the lights.

Here's another view of the pulpit with the 'popes' feet showing at the top.

As you might expect, the ceiling is amazing.
