Ljubljana at Night
After the 8 hour train ride from Budapest to Ljubljana, we were ready for some fresh air. So we stashed our stuff in the hotel (a very nice one, indeed) and headed out for a quick look about and some dinner.
What we found was a delightful town wonderfully decorated for the season. Ljubljana is a small city, only 300,000 and about 50,000 of these are university students. Since Slovenia is a small country, apparently, the universities are all here. On the shores of the Ljubljanica River we find the Christmas Market and lots of lights overhead to cheer the crowds.
The image below shows the triple bridge (yes there are three bridges, not parallel with one another that cross the river at the same place) as we look back toward the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation (more on this later).
Not all the decorations are religious as you can see below.
As you can see there are not great masses of people thronging through the streets here. It was very pleasant to wander the streets. This is safe city and we had a good time.
On our way back to the hotel, we passed through Miklošičev park where I found this lamp next to this large, old tree.
