This cemetery is filled with animistic symbols superimposed with more traditional religious symbols. However, I confess that that I'm
not sure why rabbits on your grave other than the fact that there are lots of rabbits on the island. One of the images we often see here and in the more traditional cemeteries around Seattle is the northwest scene of mountains and trees. Many, such as this one, also include a fisherman, suggesting that the deceased was an avid fisherman.
On the other hand, I've never seen a gravestone that is also a bird feeder. Clearly the resident was a great feeder of birds and wants everyone to continue the tradition. You can't see it very clearly in the photo but it says "Feed My Birds".
While this is a wonderful tribute to the departed soul, seeing the juxtaposition of the small graveside tree and the enormous tree behind does make one wonder what this grave will be like in 30 years.
