We visited Leavenworth on a bright, sunny day and had a stroll about. As you can see, there are people about, but it is by no means crowded. Most of the restaurants are in business, but the majority of eating is moved outside. For those of you who are interested in such things, we are right at the foot of the Cascades, looking west.
Since the town is made to appear as a Bavarian village, all the architecture and decorations are in keeping with that theme. For most places, this means that there are decorations painted on the building rather than physically changing the structure. While some of the newer structures are built in the style, most are wearing a facade.
Some of the painted bits are pretty elaborate.
Shopping ran the gamut from antiques and household decorations to clothing and food.
Naturally, no "Bavarian" town would be complete with a store (in this case called a museum) that deals in German nutcrackers.
Even the places in the cellars are married to the German theme.
But like any other place, there are chalk sandwich boards on the sidewalk to lure the customers in for the hard sell.
