After my visit to St. Francis, I wandered the streets a bit to see what I could see. In the downtown area there are lots of interesting doors and windows.
The vendors were out on this sunny day and there were lots of woven things to buy, both baskets and textiles. The traditional Native American designs and colors make these quite interesting.
The blankets are really cool. I'd like to get one or two of these to put in our apartment but I really have no place for them. Good way to slow the purchasing of things you don't need.
Of course, there are the obligatory pepper strings. New for me is seeing them tied into rings. This pair looks like the number 10 and I spend some few milliseconds trying to figure out the significance of that number ot the display of strung pepper. Silly old man.
Meanwhile, on the main square, where the expensive store are located, we have a display in a window of a handmade sombrero, a turquoise and silver necklace, and a turquoise and silver kachina doll. Just what every house needs and has a place for, right?
Steve, I am happy to see the pictures of the traditional Nativ American designs. Looking at the pepper strings and trying to figure out the significance the number 10. In Numerology 10 represents energy and power. In China 10 is the symbol of cross. In the Bible 10 is the most frequently used numbers, 242 time!! Nativ American Cultures used most frequently the number 4. There are 4 sacred mountains, 4 directions,4 worlds.. Silly old woman!
