Amazingly, Pueblo Bonito is not the only settlement in this canyon. Here is some of what there is to see just a short distance away in Pueblo del Arroyo.
The walls extend in all directions and fill my mind with the many lives that must have been lived here.
People going about the business of living... hunting, growling, preparing, mending, loving, living, and dying. It all happened here inside and around these walls.
A whole civilization that we only began to learn about in the last one hundred years or so.
It is often the case, as you have sen in the eralier visit to smaller sites, that the rooms are connected by openings.
Below you can easily see the holes for the poles that supported the floor/ceiling about half way up. this place was not open and airy, but it was safe and homey and people flourished.
