The Delicate Arch is high on a hill and, naturally, one can choose to climb up to it. Careful inspection will reveal various humans milling about at the top of the hill. But not me. I have no interest in climbing to see what is clearly visible from the bottom of the hill.
At the end of our trek (not the end of the road in the park), is a place called the Fiery Furnace. From here, once again, the La Sal Mountains make a grand backdrop.
The twisted and weathered trees are a part of the landscape that really adds to the feel of the place.
They also add to the mystery of the place since in some cases they seem out simply grow out of the rocks themselves.
After a long day of driving in the wilderness, we come to our hotel, the Red Rock Lodge situated on the Colorado River not far outside the park. As the sun goes down, we get a wonderful light show on the nearby mesas.
Rest well friends after a day well spent in the desert.
