Peebles, Scotland

For those of you who are wondering what just happened...I figure you've already had a lot of time jumping around this year as I keep switching from the present to various places/times in the recent past...so another interruption in linear time is not a big deal. I missed this entry util too late to correct before you saw subsequent posting. So here is our last entry from our trip to Scotland.

At the end of High Street stand the Peebles Old Parish Church. Wikipedia tells us that

The Old Parish Church of Peebles is one of several Christian churches in PeeblesBordersScotland. It is a congregation of the Church of Scotland. Dedicated on 29 March 1887, it lies at the end of the High Street.[1]

The church was constructed between 1885 and 1887 at a cost of £9,500. It includes some features from an earlier parish church built on the site in 1784.[1] The architect was William Young of London who designed the church in a Gothic style.[2]

...more below.

The surrounding town is a nice little market town with the usual market pole in the middle.

The church is relatively simple but quite well maintained. it has clearly been renovated many times in more recent years.

The choir is small but elegant.

The stone walls are insert with colorful stained glass windows. There is even a six-pointed star in the floor tiles which is, interestingly, also a christian symbol.
