Levens Hall Topiary and Flowers

Just keeping the large sculpted bushes in the proper shape is a lot of work, never mind getting them into the right shape to begin with.

While some of the shapes resemble gates or pyramids or faces, others are more abstract.

But, in spite of the vagaries of plant growth, these are remarkably well proportioned.

Perhaps springtime would have been a better time of year to view the garden. Perhaps. But even when we visited, at the height of summer, there were still flowers in full bloom and lots of green everywhere.

If you have even the slightest interest in a really grand English garden, this is the one to visit.
