In a small town of Roslin, Midlothian, not so very far from Dunbar, we find an amazing 15th century chapel. The Rosslyn Chapel, founded 1446 by Sir William Clair.
The mix of stones and the additional greening from the damp climate gives this place a fascinating exterior. I wish I could show you the interior but, alas, it is not possible... no photos allowed there.
This place is not part of Historic Scotland, rather, it is privately owned by the same family that built it all those centuries ago.
It is filled, inside and out, with delightful small sculptures, gargoyles, and ornamentations. Like all such old constructions, the fragile windows did not fare well through years since many of those years were spent in decay. Hence, the stained glass is much more recent than the 15th century...the most recent one was installed in 2021 (not the one below).
Even with the ravages of time and weather, these small carvings are still amazing.
