Hereford Cathedral - II

This is huge place with really enormous stained glass. The height of the ceiling over the crossing is impressive.

These are, I believe, various bishops who are laid to rest along this wall.

Below is a view from the backside of the organ (which we did not get to hear 😞). However, the construction of the valving/stops allows us to see a bit of detail that we rarely get to see.

Those among you who are observant will have noticed that the arches along the nave are rounded Norman style arches from the older portion of the cathedral.

Again if you look carefully, below you see a homunculus or a small animal of some sort crawling up the corner of the sarcophagus on the right. Lots of curious details to be seen here.

Many of the important people buried here have very ornate and well-maintained sarcophagi. Having a fence around it, however, makes you wonder who would climb up on that thing?

Like all cathedrals, this one has smaller chapels. This one, the Lady chapel, is especially delightful.
