Just down the road from Coldingham is the small harbor of Eyemouth. There is a small restaurant there where we had lunch. The harbor mostly looked pretty treacherous to me.
Yet, this is a place where fishermen put to sea for centuries.
Though I'm quite sure that they did not start from the rocky shores you see below.
Aside from the restaurant and the rocky coastline, the only other attraction here is this monument. It is set in a small park and is a memorial for disaster the village experienced. On 14 October, 1881 there was a major windstorm along the coast expected. However, the fishermen all still put to sea since they needed to fish to earn a living. As a result, 189 fishermen were drowned. Of these, 129 were from Eyemouth.
