I finally found a tulip tree with blossoms near enough to the ground that I could make some photos for you.
The petals are thick and textured. The purple ranges from a subtle hue to a strong line and the shape is a graceful.
The flowers are a little waxy and show the remnants of the last rain to good effect. As you can see, however, they don't last long. This one is already starting to show a bit of brown at the edges.
But at their height, they are glorious indeed.
