No set of flower photos from the PNW would be complete with a few images of tulips. Today we start a series to really make this complete. It is tulip time in the Skagit Valley to our north and the Tulip Festival is in progress.
E and I visited a little early, before some fields were at peak bloom, but we went in the middle of the week and avoided the great crowds this event attracts.
There are three main tulip growers and we visited two of them. The first we stopped at, Roozengaarde, was by far the better of the two. Tulip Town, the other one, was in sad shape this year. the November floods wiped out about 80% of their crop.
Yet, we found some impressive tulips and daffodils as well. Stay tuned for more in the coming days.
