After all the rain we've had lately, the Snohomish river is bursting at the seams...er, banks. Above you can see the swirling eddies as a tree is carried downstream.
Between 1st street and the river is a paved walkway that is well above the water's usual level. Here you see that just recently, the water covered this potion of the walkway leaving this layer of mud behind.
And a bit farther along, you can still see that the water covers the pavement. North of us the rain and flooding are much worse. There was a landslide onto I-5 near Bellingham the other day. Several small towns have had to evacuate. We are lucky here that this is all that has happened.
