Mill Fork Cemetery

South of Provo, UT, after turning off of I-15 onto US 6 to head toward Moab, we passed through a place called Mill Fork. There is is no 'there' there...no town, no nothing...except this tiny cemetery.

In this odd like cemetery are markers to folk from several families. Some, like the one below, are clearly indicate the resting place of people still missed. Curiously enough, there is no engraving on the stone.

Other stones are well chiseled.

Some seem to be recent markers for the long ago loss of relatives.

But the really strange part about this cemetery is that it is sectioned off by chain link fence into family portions. This combined with its small size, that is is sitting on a hillside where no effort was make to make it even smooth, produces a place that is most odd for a cemetery.

As you can see, despite there being some newer gravestones, most of the people in the cemetery came in the not so recent past. There are a few recent graves, but not many.

I think this sign is here because most people that stop here are like us, travelers.

Here, on the edge of the cemetery are a few newer residents.

And finally, this is look back at the cemetery from down by the parking area.
