Duck-y Creatures

Out on the various ponds around us as we crept along in our car, were many different sorts of ducks and their ilk. A fairly common one is the northern shoveler. A female is seen above.

Below is the more colorful male of the species.

Another common resident during our visit to this wildlife refuge is the northern pintail. Although this is not the best view of his tail, you can tell that it is pointed back there.

And finally, a quick snap of a pied bill grebe.
