We are on the move once again. With a cat-sit booked in Santa Fe, two Covid shots in our arms (and the additional two weeks need to be fully immunized), we filled the CR-V and hit the road. Along the way we stopped in Boise, ID. Not far from there, along the Snake River, lies the Ted Trueblood Wildlife Area. A spot filled with ponds and marshy bits that attracts birds and other wildlife.
There were two birds that dominated the area: march wrens and red winged blackbirds. First we check out the wren.
I tend to get multiple photos of these birds that look similar because it is hard to find one you can actually see through the reed. So, when I do find it visible, I go all in to get a few keepers.
Sometimes, I get lucky and find one I can see and it is singing.
Of course, the noisy, ubiquitous, but obscure wren is not the only bird to be found. The numerous red winged blackbirds were visible everywhere. The trick was to get close enough to get a shot. Here's one attempt.
nice to see you on the road again!
