Arches: Balancing Rock et al.

Not far past the Courthouse Towers, we come to the Petrified Dunes. This is a series of rounded hills and mounds that vaguely resemble sand dunes. they happen to have the glorious snowy La Sal Mountains in the background so they make an interesting foreground for photos.

In fact, with a dead tree in the foreground and the 'dunes' in the middle ground, and the mountains in background, we get a pretty interesting image.

In other directions (with a longer lens) we get a penis in the middle distance in front of the mountains. Many rocks here resemble penises (peni?) so I'm just going to call it what it looks like.

Another view of mountains and rock towers (there, is that better? no penis in this sentence...oops!)

This particular rock tower (ahem) is called Balancing Rock for obvious reasons.

In the middle distance we find more stone walls and penises all suggesting the slightly Egyptian style. See how I can work all these divers metaphors and similes into one sentence? It really is a grand place to visit. Hope you can visit if you haven't already.
