Lake View Cemetery - 2

This is one of the older cemeteries in Seattle and it is now home to many of the pioneers. I don't know that these two fellows were important shakers and movers, but they were clearly out here early in the process of creating the city.

This draped stela is quite a solemn sight. There is nothing near it; it stands alone with clear lines, unadorned by text.

On the hill near the center of the cemetery is a large stone with this tableau of a mother and daughter on top.

Carved into the side is the family name and mother (?) taking care for the animals. It is not often that you see someone celebrated for their kindness and care for the animals.

Standing next to the marker above is this obelisk that I found to mark the location of the Stone family. It is not often that you find a big rock marked "Stone".

I do not know why this gravestone has a dragon on it.

This stone for a member of the Whipple family has a curiously made human figure on top.

From the other side we see that is a female figure in contemplation.

Nearby is the imposing monument that gives the impression that a piano has been carved from some enormous boulder.

And not for the first time, we find a gravestone engraved with the scene you see around you in Seattle. It is possible that Dad here was a sailor.
