St. Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh

We headed to the Berwick Upon Tweed train station one morning to catch the train to Edinburgh.

Our first stop there was St. Giles Cathedral. We've been there before in 2014 when we escorted the JMU study abroad students to Edinburgh. With a few years of practice, I think these are better photos.

It has some really fine stained glass.

And the organ is in a transept near the crossing rather than in an organ loft at the rear.

looking toward the rear of the church, we see a collection of blue spots that are lit by sunlight and the color balance is quite off.

But the gothic arches in the ceiling and the stained glass makes this a handsome place.

There is a very detailed carved pulpit adorned with carnations and daisies.

In spite of the old style of the church, the light fixtures are quite modern.

On one side, there is a small section that I think has the stairs to the crypt with this curious ceiling design.

This side chapel has it all, a tomb with an effigy, stained glass, and a somber, Scottish demeanor.
