The Natural History Museum

I has always loved this statue of Charles Darwin. Seeing him in context here in the Natural History Museum, we realize that this is an monument to his contributions. Those Victorians...they really knew how to built a shrine.

This place really feels like a cathedral to learning. It is built in the same style as a church only more so. The featured guest of this spot in the building is hope the skeleton of a blue whale.

Hovering over everyone's heads, this large skeleton is an impressive reminder of what we come here for.

This is the view that C. Darwin has every day from his perch on the mezzanine.

The lighting of the alcoves along the sides of the main hall are very reminiscent of chapels in a church.

Another significant player in the contents of this building is Joseph Banks, the naturalist who really set things in motion.

The lighting is chosen to be dramatic.

The many arches and ceiling details amaze in every direction.

The corners inspire with their variety and detail.

And the lights are the perfect complement.
