From Wikipedia:
Sierra Nevada (meaning "mountain range covered in snow" in Spanish) is a mountain range in the region of Andalucia, in the province of Granadaand, a little further, Málaga and Almería in Spain. It contains the highest point of continental Spain and the third highest in Europe,[note 1] after the Caucasus Mountains and the Alps, Mulhacén at 3,479 metres (11,414 ft) above sea level.
We had an outing to Grenada to see Alhambra (coming soon) and along the way had to drive across the Sierra Nevada mountains. There were no good places to pull off the A-44 for a quick photo, so E took a few shot with here iPhone to share.
As you can see, the higher peaks are indeed snow covered as the name suggests.
These are really beautiful mountains. When we return to Spain, we'll have to make it a point to return.
