The Catholic Cemetery in Jackson

A cemetery with a long history always has plenty of children. This marker announces its resident with a rattle and a baby shoe on top.

Several of the plots are separated from their neighbors with metal fences. This one has a corner finial that is decorated yellow lichen.

And a reddish-orange lichen adorns the draped cross on the top of this marker. Even in a place celebrating life with the illusion of permanent stone and cement, there is another generation of life taking over.

If you don't look too closely, this gravestone honoring an Odd Fellow and Woodman of the World appears to be the trunk of the tree growing behind it. No worries, only the trees grow here.
