Another Visit to St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church Cemetery

Amador City is near Jackson, the county seat of Amador County. We decided to stop in again at the Serbian Church and have another look about.

Our closer inspection showed that the important figure of the first administrator, the Archimandrite, of the Serbian Church in America is buried here.

The folks here are proud of their patriotism.

Some of those who served in the military, have their photos on the marker. This fellow apparently reached the rank of major but my limited serbian prevents me from telling what army/war (WWII is the most likely).

The symbolism and decoration on these gravestones is fascinating. So many things I do not understand and cannot read.

While the christians in the Victorian Era had so many token of grief placed on the gravestones. Yet here, it is almost universally a simple cross.

Although we occasionally find a cross that is adorned with intricate designs.
