Driving East Over the Sierras

We headed east over the Sierras because, like the proverbial bear, we wanted to see what we could see. One of the first things we noticed is that, to our surprise, the eastern Sierra Nevadas is greener.

While there are parts you would not claim to be lush, the plants that do thrive here are green and there is a definite green undertone to the land.

It is an empty place. Hard to believe that we are still in California...we are as far from a LA and San Fran state of mind as it is possible to get. But this emptiness is inviting. Unlike the endless brown of the western slopes around Angels Camp, this side feel kinds friendly.

Verdant valleys and protective mountains beckon here. It is beautiful and peaceful here.
