On a hot Sunday afternoon we drove east on CA-4 to Bear Valley. At 7,000 feet it was a little cooler, but not a lot. Our purpose was to attend a concert of the Crawdad Republic.
Their combination of close harmonies and rhythmic country bounce makes it a fun afternoon.
But it was warm in the big tent. On the way into town, we saw a sign telling us that the road was closed 15 miles ahead due to a wildfire. Not a big one like the Dixie fire, but close enough to make us pay attention.
But we had a fun afternoon and a safe journey both east and west. If you are on the west coast and have a chance to see the Crawdad Republic, do it. It was a fun afternoon.
