Rio Grande Wild Turkeys

Along with the deer and foxes that frolic in the neighborhood, we also have flocks of Rio Grande Wild Turkeys. The other day a flock of females came past our house making it easy for me to get a few images.

It seems that the males and females flock separately outside of the mating season. Thus, we see no males here today.

While the feathers are not brightly colored, they are interestingly patterned. However, the bare necks and heads are not the most handsome.

These birds are certainly blend in with the background.

Apparently, the foxes don't concern them, at least when they are not on the nest. That must be a tricky time of year.

As they leave, they turn and wander down the street as if they owned the place. Perhaps they do.
