Yosemite National Park

After our explorations east of the Sierras, we headed back toward Angels Camp. However, we decided to try an alternate, longer route back west. We used our seniors pass for the national parks and drove back through Yosemite. To actually visit the park, reservations are required and things are really packed between now and late October, after we are back in the PNW. But, it is possible to get a timed pass for the purpose of simply driving through. This is what we did.

While the parts we drove through did not include the spectacular valley of renown, we got to see lots of beautiful vistas and amazing scenery.

The lakes were remarkably clear and, in places, filled with people kayaking and fishing.

 In other places, it was solitude. It is easy to see what drew people to this place.

In places, there are hills that seems white as if they are covered in snow even in the heat of summer.

It is a spectacular place. We'll be back for sure.
