Irving Lawson access Area

Although we are still enjoying clear blue skies overhead, the Cascades to the east of us gather clouds above them. I went down to the Irving Lawson Access Area, a dead end road with access to a berm along the Snohomish River,  to see what I could see of the mountains and clouds.

I'm not sure if it is better or worse with the trees still mostly bare. But the clouds are impressive.

I have not lived in the PNW long enough to know if it is normal or not to have snow still on the mountains at the end of March/beginning of April, but there it is. It is certainly true that Mt. Baker to the north and Ranier to the south are completely snow covered now.

So, even when it is near midday and the sky is mostly clear and blue, it is still possible to get interesting images thanks to the mountains. Even though the mountains themselves are not awe inspiring, the clouds they create certainly are.
