The Journey Begins
The evening before we loaded up, I caught the truck resting up for the hard work in the lot in front of the hotel.
The loading was pretty easy. We're old enough to have more money than back muscles, so we hired a couple guys to do the heavy lifting. The 16' truck is about 8' longer than we need so it didn't get much fuller than what you see here.
Our first stop for gas gave us a chance to stretch our legs a little.
Here you can see our arrangement. We bought phone holders so we could connect one to the truck sound system (ie. radio) so we could listen to audio books and music. The other is running Wase so we can watch for traffic issues. Of course, there is the GPS in the window to guide us. Water bottles at the ready, camera bag to the side, we are prepared.
We saw lots of scenes like this. I-40 through Tennessee is pretty straight.
We did spy a few fields of cotton that seemed ready for the pickers.
