Tontitown Through Oklahoma to Kansas
As we left our friends in Tontitown behind, we headed west toward Tulsa and the land slowly, but surely began to flatten.
There was a bit of rain by the time we reached Tulsa and the sky was pretty solid cloudy.
In Tulsa, we turned north towards Kansas. Here we found some of the largest grain storage facilities I've ever seen. They just seem to go on forever.
We stopped in Newton for a short walk down memory lane with a visit to the house where E's great uncle once lived. Down the street from here we had some of the best barbeque ever. Well worth a stop.
We continued through Kansas, turning left at Salinas and heading towards Colorado and now things were really getting flat.
We never seemed to shake the clouds. That far edge of the clouds beyond which seems to be bright sky was a place like the pot of gold at the foot of the rainbow...we just couldn't get there.
But we did eventually reach Oakley, KS where we stayed for the night.
