St. David's Anglican Church
St. David's is a real landmark in Hobart. Much to surprise, it is filled with stained glass windows. After seeing St. Paul's in London filled with clear glass in nearly all the windows, I never expected to see such extravagance in an Anglican church.
The vaulted roof is exposed as it is in most of the churches we've seen in Australia.
The window over the altar is quite impressive.
I tried a two-shot HDR here but the colors came out so garish, I converted it to B&W to save the shot. I realize that this is more than you really wanted to know about the details, but here it is. Unlike most of the time when You see a B&W image in the blog, this one was not really intended. Nevertheless, I think it works pretty well. The detail is nice.
The light filtering through this window made a nice play of light and color to accentuate the reason for the windows in the first place.
Interestingly, even though these photo were made in the week before Christmas, you see no decorations. In fact, if you go back through the last few days of posts, neither the HoHoHo tour nor the Salamanca Market show decorations. Australia is very reserved in the decorations for any holiday, including Christmas. Kinds nice.
