Rockingham
Our house sit in Rockingham is in a house a block from the beach. It was not hot, but the weather started warm enough for shorts. Later in the visit, the weather turned colder and windier (as you no doubt saw on Instagram - steve.whisnant - if you are following along there).
The very large building on the left end of the beach is an enormous grain storage facility. Although Rockingham is a large place (as Australian towns go), the beach is limited on the northern in by a significant industrial area, starting with the grain facility. It has a huge conveyor that moves the grain out to the ships. We saw several being filled while were there.
The central portion of the beam has a nice selection of cafes and shops along with some interesting houses.
E had fun finding lots of really cool shells on the beach. She even found a perfectly preserved cuttlefish bone on the shore. Most likely picked clean by some combination of gulls and water/sand action. I have packed carefully (quite fragile) for our trip home along with the other shells she found.
It was a quiet time in Rockingham. We had a small dog that wanted lots of attention and two daily walks. This limited our outings so we just enjoyed the animals. The two cats grew to be friendly enough (for cats) but the little shih tzu was a gem and we enjoyed our long walks with him.
This is the first sit we've had where the care for the animals really limited our travels. But we are about to make up for that.
