Lake Thetis
After leaving the Pinnacles, we headed on over to Cervantes, a small town on the shore for a look about. We brought sandwiches and drinks so we had no need of a place for lunch. We just wanted to see what there was to be seen.
On the way into town, at the edge of Nambung park we found a muddy dirt road leading out to Lake Thetis.
In addition to an impressive sky after the worst of the rain squalls passed, we found a small lake surrounded by bush.
It is also clear that during times fo heavy rain that the lake gets much larger.
The really interesting thing here, however, are the stromatolites found on the bottom of the lake. There are structures built up very slowly by cyanobacteria, one tiny layer at a time.
They add to the skyscape as well, don't you think?
