Shorebirds at Fowler's Bay

Behind the sand dunes at Fowler's Bay are a series of shallow ponds and the birds like this place. We saw a flock of that I think are Sharp-Tailed Sandpipers wandering about the edges of one of these ponds.

It was hard to tell if they were actually successful in finding food here, but I suppose they must since they are still here.

These are not brightly colored birds but there are elegant nonetheless and it was fun to watch them searching about the shallows. It was hard to get a better image of them since they are very skittish and fly away at the drop of a hat.

Perhaps the secret of their interest is seen in the surface of the water. It is possible to just discern that the surface is pocked with insect landings. No rain this day.
