Brexhill

Low tide on England's southern coast shows that the beach is composed of stone rather than sand. The regular array of breakwaters extending out into the sea attest to the turbulence of the sea along this shore.

Moreover, they are, for some reason a place for people to congregate while enjoying the shore. Two things to notice here. First, there aren't that many people out here. I think the British come to be near the shore, not actually on it. They like to eat and drink and smell the sea air; to be free to relax. Secondly, while I don't really show it much in this image, there are actually almost no one in the water. It is cold.

Nevertheless, there must be a high season sometime other than in July when we are here because there are plenty of beach lockers for the avid vacationers.

On a crowded sandy beach, one get the impression that people come to see and be seen. On this sparsely populated shoreline, people appear to prefer the solitude of enjoying the shore alone.

As the tide slowly returns, we see the breakwater doing its job. I'm not completely certain, but I think that is Brighton off in the distance.
