Newstead Cemetery
We are settled in in Castlemaine with our house sit and looking about for things to do. Of course we are starting looking about for cemeteries. The first on our list is in Newstead.
Out of town a few kilometers on an untarred road we find on one side of the road this expanse of farmland.
On the other side, is a cemetery filled on the edge another paddock.
This place has the feel of what it must have been like to been here when these graves were first dug. Country. Farmland. Gum Trees. And silence.
And the gum trees are large and beautiful.
This cemetery is place of meditation unlike ones in the city. Restorative to the soul.
