Making Tracks

We have reached the end of our current house sit and we are about to embark on a grand adventure.

Today we leave for Phillip Island for a couple nights to see the penguins. There is a beach in the Phillip Island Nature Park where the Fairy Penguins visit every evening. There are several choices of what to see the penguins. We have chosen the Ultimate Adventure Tour in which a guide takes out on secluded section of the beach to sit and watch the penguin with night vision goggles. It's going to be exciting.

After this experience, the big adventure begins. We are driving to Perth! We are charting out a path to take us along the southern coast that will take us 11 days to complete. Our next house sit begins on 12 September just a bit south of Perth.

We are taking our time so we can see some of what we are driving past. It is a trip of nearly 3900 km through some places devoid of trees and people. We'll see beaches and deserts. There is even a full sized reproduction of Stonehenge along our route. I'll be taking photos like mad, but you won't get to see them for a while.

The reason for this is simple: we will not only have little or no internet access, we won't even have electricity. We are camping our way across! We have purchased a tent and air mattress to go with our sleeping bags and we are psyched.

So, there will be posts from our stay in Castlemaine that persist for a while and then a dry spell while we head west and get settled in our next house sit. Then I'll share all our new adventures with you. In the meantime, while we shift west I'll be posting to instagram with my phone to bring you the sights and sounds of this adventure.

So, if you haven't yet set up an account on Instagram, do so and follow me (steve.whisnant) for the full details. If you are not an Instagram sort of person, you can follow all the posts on google+. All the blog and instagram posts appear on google+ making us easy to follow if you have a google account.

Either way, there will be a blogging gap while we move and resettle. Don't abandon us...we'll be back with new adventures to report soon.
