On the Beach at Tortuga Bay

The sally lightfoot crab is ubiquitous on the Galapagos Islands and their bright colors make them quite eye-catching.
One wonders why an animal that spends so much time on a dull gray rock or a pale sandy beach would be so brightly colored.

There are also ghost crabs here. While we did not see the crabs, we did see plenty of evidence of their presence. This crabs find food in the beach sand and discard the sand in these small balls that they leave in trails behind them.

Lots of marine iguanas on this beach, so you'll be see lots more of these.
