Even though Ashow is a small town largely passed over by the 20th century, it was clearly home to some well-to-do families. there are many significant grave stones in the church yard.
Perhaps the most interesting find here are the grooves on the church walls. there are places where the archers would sharpen their arrows against the stone before going to battle.
Tucked away among the trees along the shore of the Avon river, the grave markers have little chance to avoid the ravages of moss and lichen. Even this relatively recent (1906) marker is well worn.
May favorite view of the place is what one sees walking in to the church. this view along the densely overgrown path is, for me, a combination of romantic, mysterious, and inviting.
